The Reverend Candace Veon-Nyiri - Associate Pastor for Contemporary Worship and Small Group Ministry
Candace Veon-Nyiri serves as Designated Associate Pastor for Contemporary Worship and Small Group Ministries. Her goal is to tell the “old, old story of Jesus and His love” in fresh and creative ways! She holds a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Grove City College, a M.Ed.in Gifted Ed. from the University of Arkansas, a master’s level teaching certificate in Elementary Ed. from Westminster College and a M.Div. from Pittsburgh Theological Seminary where she is currently on the Board of Directors. She has experience as a hospital chaplain with training through the CPE Residency program at Hershey/Penn State Medical Center. Before following a call to seminary, Candace worked as a nanny, taught elementary school and served as a Director of CE and Youth at several Presbyterian churches. Candace’s interests include Family Systems theory, spiritual formation throughout the lifespan, exploring new ways to be the Church in postmodern culture and talking about theological themes in film and literature. Candace loves photography, walking, travel, going to the movies, children’s literature, and drinking coffee, especially nonfat lattes. Candace is married to her best friend Lou Nyiri, GPC’s Associate Pastor. They are the proud parents of Alex, age 9 who loves Steeler’s football and making his mom and dad laugh.
